July 2008- 2012 Self Employed Chelsea, VT Farmer

* With my husband built a 20’x60’ equipment shed/barn and 26’x48’ greenhouse
* Raised broilers for local sale part time; butchered  at the farm

April 2011-July 2012 VT Agency of Transportation Berlin, VT  Curriculum Development Coordinator and Planning Section Chief

I utilized all the skills I had developed over various positions to guide a new training center into existence.  The first course offered, Construction Safety Awareness, was very well received by the field personnel who attended the 5 day course.  Over 300 Operations personnel attended before I left.  I designed a course catalog, class brochures, Sharepoint websites, a task management system, and helped develop training paths for various employee types.  I worked with other providers of instruction to create a “learning campus” at the training center, which would include possible college credits and other certifications for attendees.

October 1997-July 2008 VT Agency of Transportation Montpelier, VT  Facilities Program Coordinator and Technical Writer

* Received excellent or outstanding performance ratings during my 11 year tenure
* Created via Microsoft Access and managed real property inventory and facilities maintenance project databases; prioritized projects, authorized and tracked spending for several programs with funding totaling several million dollars
* Acted as Operations Division real property specialist; prepared documents, researched deeds, and followed State procedures for acquisition, disposition, and lease of property
* Developed and implemented a project to upgrade lighting in all state garages, including gathering inventory, working with vendors to determine appropriate replacements, working with Buildings and General Services Division to obtain funding through their energy efficiency revolving loan fund, working with Contract Administration to develop the Request for Proposals (RFP), working with Efficiency VT to receive rebates, working with contractors and districts to ensure proper installation
* Created and implemented an energy use tracking system for over 100 Agency facilities and reported quarterly to State-wide energy tracking committee
* Operations Division quarterly newsletter editor for over eight years. Solicited and gathered information, edited, created layout
* Special projects member for Agency and State-wide projects requiring technical writing and/or facilities management skills:
* Major contributor to the Agency’s Annual Report for five years, receiving certificates of achievement for two of those years for saving the Agency thousands of dollars by doing the work in-house
* Major player in organizing Vermont State Employee Greenup for six years, which required soliciting volunteer litter pickers, working with Agency district people to use the volunteers effectively; received public service recognition award for this project
* Committee member in state-wide effort to identify and implement greenhouse gas reduction strategies for state government activities (including promoting telework--now called virtual work)
* Active team member in promoting electronic documentation:
* Developed an indexing system for all building plans to incorporate them into the Agency’s large document imaging system
* Acted as Operations’ liaison with the Agency’s electronic small document management system, OnBase (Hyland Software). Worked with other Agency employees to develop an agency-wide indexing and scanning process

* With my husband started a wholesale and retail bakery from scratch. I was in charge of accounting and sales. Sold the business in 1991.

Education

1990-present. I have constantly upgraded my skills and pursued areas of interest through self study, conferences, short classroom courses. Some examples:

* In 2010 I studied the US Constitution as annotated by the major US Supreme Court decisions as well as reading books discussing solutions to various governmental problems
* Weeklong conference for OnBase electronic document management system (Hyland Software)
* Microsoft Office level 2 and 3 in Access, Excel, Level 2 Powerpoint, Word, and Outlook, Microsoft Page self-taught
* ArcView and ArcGis coursework
* Adobe Pagemaker 2 day course
* Efficiency Vermont conferences on building energy efficiency as well as annual conferences of the National Association of State Facilities Administrators, where I also presented on several occasions
* Self-taught various software applications for business process mapping, project and task management, website design
* Received two major summer study stipends in environmental education while teaching at South Royalton: VT Governor’s Institute of Science and Technology (lead learner) and Simmons College (using the Internet)

Interests
Board member and Secretary for Vermonters for Educational Choice (1 year); Board member and Education Committee member for Vermont Green Building Network (1 year); Vice President, Eastern Region and Communications Committee co-chair for the National Association of State Facilities Administrators (4 and 5 years, respectively). I now enjoy being a snowbird, spending half the year in FL and half in VT with my husband Chris, dog Ayla, and cat Pepper.
